5 simple tips to increase your life expectancy
What's the secret to a longer life? We talked to health experts to find out. Here are five simple tips for you!
1. Add nuts to your diet
They're richin protein, vitamins, and minerals. According to a 2013 study, you should eat at least 90 grams of nuts a week to lower your risk of early death by 39%.
2. Stay active
Just 15 minutes of daily exercise can add three more years of life. However, you should exercise for at least 150 minutes a week. A 2015 study found that older people who did that were 22% less likely to die early.
3. Smile!
Happy people may live up to 18% longer than unhappy people. You should avoid stress, do things that you enjoy, and spend more time with your family and friends.
4. Go outside
Spending time in the sun improves our mood and helps us sleep better at night, both of which help us live longer. You should spend at least 120 minutes a week in parks or natural environment to increase your happiness. Remember to wear sunscreen, though.
5. Drink coffee or tea
Coffee and green tea can help decrease your risk of early death by 20 to 30%. However, you shouldn't drink them too much because they can make it harder for you to sleep.
