LESSON 6A: SPENDING POWER
I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
-Get some more knowledge to talk about shops and services; shopping nouns
-Vocabulary: afford, bargain, butcher, deli, yen, pound, receipt, refund, coupons, discount, price tag, sale, special offer.
-Speaking: Guessing which items are the cheapest and most expensive; acrafty customer questionnaire.
-Pronunciation: Placing stress on the correct syllable
2. Ability:
- Main skills:listening and speaking skills
- Sub skills:reading and listening for specific information
- Asking and answering about shops and services
- Discussing about shops and services; shopping nouns
3. Quality:
- Have positive attitude in English language learning so that they can participate enthusiastically in all classroom activities, especially with the topic conducted by the teacher
- Know how to talk about likes and dislikes, and dicuss about school subjects
II. TEACHER AIDS AND LEARNING MATERIALS
Lesson plan, PPT slides, student’s book, workbook, notebook, personal computer (if any), projector/TV. Speakers, IWB software.
III. PROCEDURES
A. Warm-up (5’)
a) Objective: Introduce the new lesson and set the scene for Ss to acquire new language; get students' attention at the beginning of the class by means of enjoyable and short activities as well as to engage them in the steps that followed.
b) Content: Warm-up game
c) Outcomes: Students can gain more confidence and interest in the lesson
d) Competence: guessing, discuss shops and servicse

Guess which of the items is the most expensive and which the least expensive-Divides class into 3 groups -Gives the students instructions -Asks the students to choose which is the most expensive and which is the least expensive thing in the pictures -After that, T asks the students to answer if they have a lot of money which one that they will buy first and why -Which group can answer correct and suitable reasons for what they are going to buy. -Have the students to vote -They will get points for their team. |
-Play game in groups -Listen to the teacher’s instructions -Work in group and decide which one is the most expensive and which is the least expensive thing in the pictures -Think about what they are going to buy if they have a lot of money and explain why -Present the ideas -Vote |
